Are energy drinks good for regular consumption?

We use energy drinks to relieve fatigue and for concentration. A 250 ml energy drink contains as much caffeine as 60 ml. Many beverages also contain other ingredients such as taurine, sugar, guarana, etc.

But is it good for our health?

According to a report posted in open-access in the journal "BMJ Open", there are half the children in the world and about 1/3 of the children in the UK who drink energy drinks every week.

The UK government in 2018 ran an advisory to ban the sale of these beverages.

The researchers wanted to find out its effect on youth's health and behavior, and they also wanted to find out how many types of energy drinks UK children drink.

Systematic data analysis revealed that thirteen percent to sixty percent of children worldwide had consumed a beverage in the previous year.

An evaluation of additional UK records shows that children across the United Kingdom consume energy drinks at least once a week, with a percentage ranging from 3 to 32 percent.

    Consuming more energy drinks

Those people who consumed energy drinks on 5 or more days of the week had worse mental and physical health than those who did not consume energy drinks.

According to UK values, boys consumed more alcohol than girls, and this consumption increased with age. Its excessive consumption included sleep problems, more headaches, irritability, smoking, and dropping out of school.

The researchers wrote that the data "supports the hypothesis that there is an association between drinking [caffeinated energy drinks] and chronic poor health and conduct in children, despite the fact that the cause is unclear."

The researchers concluded, "Based on a thorough review of systematic reviews, half of children worldwide drink energy drinks [caffeinated energy drinks] weekly or monthly, and based primarily on thorough dataset analysis, in the UK, 1/3 of children consume them.
